c is for character

Character is generally defined as

the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.

Beyond that, character is generally thought of as “doing the right thing even when no one else is looking.”  Without really intending to, many of us have generalized that character is something we develop when bad things happen in our lives. Or we think of it as part of a long list of things we need to teach our children.

Character is so much more than that.

Days of Anger – The Beginning

As I shared yesterday, I was reluctant to write about anger. It’s not exactly in my comfort zone. I wrote about JOY last year, so at first it seemed like a bit of a credibility stretch for me to tackle.

But then I looked hard at the dictionary (well, I Googled it.  I didn’t get carried away to the point of pulling out an actual printed book or anything.)

MOMtor Monday – Cookie Dough and Self Control

It’s MOMtor Monday and I’m over at Mothering from Scratch with a guest post.

I’ve adored their series on the fruits of the spirit this summer.  I love fresh fruit in the summer time, and their series really satisfied!

Because I’m a regular contributor to Mothering from Scratch (and because they actually plan their posts out weeks in advance) I actually had this writing assignment since last May.

For three months, I’ve been staring at “self control” as a writing topic.
