Go outside and play with your kids.

Like I said, go outside and play with your kids.

This started out to be a long blog post about something else entirely. But then, life got in the way and I chose kids over words. What can I say? I love my kids.

So quit reading this post. Go on… I’ll wait.

go outside and play with your kids

Just do it.

If you’re still around, I assume your kids are napping or at school or something boring like that. When they wake up (or get out of time out or whatever) stop whatever it is you’re doing and PLAY with your kids. If the weather is even halfway decent…

Go outside and play with your kids.

GoGo says to go play outside

GoGo says “Don’t talk to me, I’m busy playing outside.”

If you are still looking for ideas on something to do with your kids this afternoon, what about taking a blanket  and trying one of these as you play outside with your kids?

  • Lay on it while looking at the clouds. Take turns finding pictures in the clouds.
  • Take a game outside and play it with them while sitting on the blanket.
  • Play Hide and Seek. Use the blanket as home base.
  • Have a picnic. Nothing fancy, just whatever the normal afternoon snack would be.
  • Read a book to them.
  • Drape it over a lawn chair and let them play “fort.”

Did you play outside with your kids today?  How did it go?

I have a passion for encouraging weary worn out mothers to find joy in everyday motherhood and peace in unlikely places. I have two elementary school boys, one nerdy husband, and two cats. I have a strange fascination for bad puns, the color pink, socks, and books. I worry about running out of toilet paper, wine, and chocolate.. I serve an amazing God. I live an ordinary life filled with wonder.
