My Kids Make Me Laugh – Boredom

If my kids make me laugh about summer boredom, then there’s hope.

I KNOW I’m not alone.  All across America, kids are whining “I’m bored” by 10am.  By noon, a whole lot of us moms are “done.”  To be honest, humor is one of the biggest ways I cope.

I hope it works for you too.

By the way, this is the time of year that I’m totally jealous of my homeschooling friends.  Many of them are starting school early.  The days now will will be exchanged for a random week off when the weather if fabulous and the parks are deserted.

So far, today has gone a little something like this:

My Kids Make Me Laugh – GoGo’s World

My kids make me laugh all the time.  Recently, my husband and I were both cracking up at our youngest son.

Apparently, he lives in a different world than the rest of us.  He’s going into second grade this fall, so you have to take what he says with more than a grain of salt.

But even with that… he’s just… funny.

His record is three laughs in less than five minutes.  On three entirely different topics.  My head was spinning!

My Kids Make Me Laugh – Chickens

Remember when I confessed to being a virtual chicken killer?

I wish I knew what it was about video games and chickens.  They pretty much ALL include chickens.

Recently my kids were making me laugh about the chickens in Minecraft.

(yes, I know I’m writing about Minecraft for the second time this week.  It’s the obsession of the summer.)

It wasn’t exactly the chickens… more like the things my kids were SAYING to the chickens.

Jelly Beans and Margaritas

Remember when I told you that my son was obsessed with getting me to drink a Margarita?

(i shudder to think how this will manifest when he is dating)

The treat of the week was a gallon container of gourmet jelly beans.  The obsession continues.

Treat of the week? [Read more…]

My Kids Make Me Laugh – Guns

OK, before you get all huffy and political and judgmental about guns, you really need to hear the whole story.  By the end, I think you’ll agree that my kids make me laugh about guns.

My husband and I have a mixed marriage.  I come from a gun free, non-hunting family.  My husband… doesn’t.

So when our sons were born, there was some good natured speculation about what our parenting choices would be.  When a relative inadvertently gave our children a gift that included a gun as part of a dress-up kit, family members held their breaths to see what my reaction would be.

(i gently removed the gun from the play set and kept on going.  no big deal.)

Honestly, I tried to raise my boys without guns.  I gave it my best… shot. [Read more…]

My Kids Make Me Laugh – Flashback Style

My kids make me laugh on a daily basis. They’ve been doing so for longer than I’ve been blogging.

Allow me to flashback to early in the year 2007 when my kids were both in diapers. Watty was in MDO and GoGo was just learning to talk clearly.  I was one tired momma.

(Insert your own special effects here.  It’s a low budget blog.)

My kids make me laugh: Cats and Dogs

My kids make me laugh all the time.  The other day, we were driving home from school and got to talking about cats and dogs.  I can’t believe where the conversation took us.

It started simply enough.  I asked them one of those classic cartoon questions.

Me:  When you watch Tom and Jerry do you root for the cat or the mouse? [Read more…]

My Kids Make Me Laugh about Man Shorts

My kids make me laugh continually.  This weekend, GoGo was cracking me up with his response to my husband’s man shorts.

Out of respect for my husband, there will be no photos.

Be thankful for that.

I’m not sure what else to call them besides man shorts.  Maybe… [Read more…]

My Kids Make Me Laugh about Twins

My kids make me laugh almost daily, even when I’m not expecting it.  Like the other day when they saw twins.

As an adult, twins aren’t that big of deal to me.  I graduated from high school with two sisters who happened to be idential twins, and that kind of made twins seem normal to me.

I’d forgotten that twins fascinated me as a kid.

As a kid, I thought twins were cool.

I wanted a twin so bad.  Obviously, I could then go crazy and break all the rules and blame everything on my evil twin… all the time claiming to be a good girl. [Read more…]

Mother’s Day and Minecraft

My kids make me laugh all the time.  This week, they were cracking me up about Mother’s Day and Minecraft.

As I’ve shared before, my kids play Minecraft – that lego like game with zombies.  It’s an online game where people mine for stuff and then craft it into other stuff.  (Hence the name.  Mine-Craft.  Minecraft.)

The other day, GoGo came home from school singing the Minecraft song.

GoGo:  I’m gonna play some Minecraft.  I’m gonna kill me a something dragon.  I’m gonna something something…

OK, maybe singing was generous.  He was trying to sing it, but he didn’t know the words.  He’s in first grade, so I’ll cut him a little slack. [Read more…]
