You Are a Writer

This weekend, I devoured Jeff Goins’ new book titled You Are A Writer.  It’s been sitting on my Kindle for a few weeks and I’d kind of forgotten about it.

It was just what I needed.

If you’re struggling with the whole blogging / writing thing, I’d recommend the book highly.  It’s You Are a Writer (So Start Acting Like One) by Jeff Goins.  (That takes you straight to Amazon using an affiliate link. If a hundred people follow my link and actually buy the book, I think I get a cup of coffee or something.)

You are a writer (so start ACTING like one).

It was just the advice I needed.  It raised more questions than it gave answers to. It challenged me. I was also relieved to find that I was already some things right. There’a good part of the book where I was nodding my head and saying “check, check” as I went a long.

I love that feeling of validation and challenge all mixed together.

These are quotes I highlighted from the book.

But my favorite quote is this one:

“Every day, somewhere, a writer is born. She comes into the world with a destiny: to share her words and proclaim a message. To make a difference. These words have the power to move and motivate strangers, to shake the earth and rattle the heavens. If only she would write them.”

Yesterday, I asked “what if the only words I have left are the ones I’ve already shared?”  Would they be enough to make that difference? If not what’s keeping me from sharing them?

I’m still struggling with the answer.  All I know for sure is that I AM a writer… it’s time to start acting like one.
