I’ve always been a writer

When I named my series for the 31 day challenge “For the Love of Writing” it was a deliberate choice. I never even considered naming it “for the love of blogging.”

Writing is about the words.

It’s about making words dance across the page to express the ideas that whirl in my head.  It’s about taking an idea that’s woken me up at 2:30 in the morning and translating it into something a reader can understand well enough to create a shared experience.

It’s about the story.

i am a writer

Blogging is more than words.

It’s the graphic designs, the endless obsession of statistics, social media, and community.

I love them both… at least most of the time.

Sometimes, the obsession of statistics can wear a little thin. Sometimes, the social media obsession can be a bit intrusive. Sometimes, I just want to run away and hide from trolls.

I’ve been a serious blogger for only few years, but…

I’ve always been a writer.

The core of writing for me is the story. Even as a kid, I told stories. I wrote them down, I told them to my dolls, I even told them to myself when no one else would listen.

I can remember being the heroine of my own story as I rode my bike to school. (I also remember worrying that I was slightly crazy because I called myself “she” in my stories.)

It took years to understand what I was doing. I just thought I was a little cray cray. It turns out I was just a writer in disguise.

I don’t think there’s a cure.

The other day I started preparing for NaNoWriMo – the crazy thing where I write a draft of a novel in a month.  The next thing I knew, I was telling myself a story again. Sure enough, I called myself “she” again.

Maybe I’m cray-cray.

Or maybe I’m just a writer.

I have a passion for encouraging weary worn out mothers to find joy in everyday motherhood and peace in unlikely places. I have two elementary school boys, one nerdy husband, and two cats. I have a strange fascination for bad puns, the color pink, socks, and books. I worry about running out of toilet paper, wine, and chocolate.. I serve an amazing God. I live an ordinary life filled with wonder.
