Green peas and lamb

If Dr Seuss had ever tried to feed peas to my son, his famous book might have gone a little more like this….

(If you don’t recall my son’s long term aversion to peas, you might want to check out how Mr Picky got his name.

And yes, I’m calling this egg-themed.  I’m not done celebrating the egg just yet!)

green peas and lamb

Green peas and lamb

I am Mam

(because mom doesn’t rhyme)

I am Mam
Mam I am

That Mam-I-am
That Mam-I-am!
I do not like
that Mam-I-am

Do you like
green peas and lamb

I do not like them,
Mam-I-am.
I do not like
green peas and lamb.

Would you like them
Cold or hot?

I would not like them
cold or hot.
I would not like them
in the pot.
I do not like
green peas and lamb.
I do not like them,
Mam-I-am

Mr Picky Hated Peas!

Would you like them
with a spoon?
Would you like to
eat them soon?

I do not like them
with a spoon.
I do not like to
eat them soon.
I do not like them
cold or hot.
I do not like them
in the pot.
I do not like green peas and lamb.
I do not like them, Mam-I-am.

Would you eat them
on a plate?
Would you eat them
Really late?

Not on a plate.
Not really late.
Not with a spoon.
Not eat them soon.
I would not eat them cold or hot.
I would not eat them in the pot.
I would not eat green peas and lamb.
I do not like them, Mam-I-am.

Would you? Could you?
on a bike?
Eat them! Eat them!
Here they are.

I would not,
could not,
on a bike

You may like them.
You will see.
You may like them
in the scree?
not in the scree.
I would not, could not in the scree.
Not on a bike! You let me be.

I do not like them on a plate.
I do not like them really late
I do not like them with a spoon
I do not like to eat them soon
I do not like them cold or hot.
I do not like them in the pot.
I do not like green peas and lamb.
I do not like them, Mam-I-am.

A truck! A truck!
A truck! A truck!
Could you, would you
on a truck?

Not on a truck! Not in the scree!
Not on a bike! Mam! Let me be!
I would not, could not, on a plate.
I could not, would not, eat them late.
I will not eat them really soon
I will not eat them with a spoon.
I will not eat them cold or hot.
I will not eat them in the pot.
I do not like them, Mam-I-am.

Say!
In the park?
Here in the park!
Would you, could you, in the park?

I would not, could not,
in the park.

Would you, could you,
with a duck?

I would not, could not, with a duck.
Not in the park. Not on a truck,
Not on a bike, Not in the scree.
I do not like them, Mam, you see.
Not with a spoon. Not on a plate.
Not really soon. Not really late.
I will not eat them cold or hot.
I do not like them in the pot!

You do not like
green peas and lamb?

I do not
like them,
Mam-I-am.

Could you, would you,
with a boar?

I would not,
could not.
with a boar!

Would you, could you,
on the floor?

I could not, would not, on the floor.
I will not, will not, with a boar.
I will not eat them with a duck.
I will not eat them on a truck.
Not in the park! Not in the scree!
Not on a bike! You let me be!
I do not like them on a plate.
I do not like them really late.
I will not eat them with a spoon.
I do not like to eat them soon.
I do not like them cold or hot.
I do not like them IN THE POT!

I do not like
green peas
and lamb!

I do not like them,
Mam-I-am.

You do not like them.
SO you say.
Try them! Try them!
And you may.
Try them and you may I say.

peas are a key ingredient in pea salad

Mam!
If you will let me be,
I will try them.
You will see.

Say!
I like green peas and lamb!
I do!! I like them, Mam-I-am!
And I would eat them in a truck!
And I would eat them with a boar…
And I will eat them with a duck.
And in the park. And on a truck.
And on a bike. And in the scree.
They are so good so good you see!

So I will eat them on a plate.
And I will eat them really late.
And I will eat them with a spoon.
And I will eat them really soon.
And I will eat them cold and hot.
Say! I will eat them IN THE POT!

I do so like
green peas and lamb!
Thank you!
Thank you,
Mam-I-am
