Why I need coffee

I think most moms run on coffee, at least for part of each day.

One of my girlfriends was telling me a bad day is when she transitions straight from coffee to wine with no water in between.  Given that I made a New Year’s resolution to drink more water than wine, I understood exactly what she meant.

I think most writers and artists run on coffee (at least when they aren’t running on wine or something).

As a mom and a writer, coffee plays a VERY important role in my life.  You’ll never believe what I did without it.

There’s the well-pinned quote:

Write drunk, edit sober.

I swear there’s a follow up quote that doesn’t get nearly as much attention:

Edit sober, publish after coffee.

I need coffee.

Want proof?  Want to see what I’m capable of without coffee?

I actually published it… with the extra “M” in it.  It wasn’t until the image got re-pinned that I realized there was a problem.  Sigh.

(If you re-pinned the original image, I’ve fixed it.  Do me a huge favor and delete the pin with the extra letter in it.  Pretty please?  You can find the fixed pin here.)

keep calm and drink coffee

I made this graphic and uploaded it to Pinterest over a month ago.  I meant to link it to a post, but in my coffee deprived condition, I forgot.

Until today, it remained unlinked to my blog in any way.

It gets re-pinned on a daily basis.

(That sound you heard was all the bloggers gasping in pain as they read this.)

(Humor me.  Repin that one now that I’ve fixed the pin.  It might help.)

The Truth about my Coffee Problem

Other than an occasional cup of coffee milk, I didn’t have this problem until a few years ago.

I used to be a diet soda addict instead.

I didn’t even OWN a coffee maker for most of my adult life. It was about four years ago that I purchased my first Keurig to be able to serve coffee as a holiday hostess.

After the holidays, the Keurig stayed on the kitchen counter.  It gleamed at me in a seductive way.  The cute little pods of coffee whispered sweet nothings to me.

Drink me…

Life hasn’t been the same every since.

I have a passion for encouraging weary worn out mothers to find joy in everyday motherhood and peace in unlikely places. I have two elementary school boys, one nerdy husband, and two cats. I have a strange fascination for bad puns, the color pink, socks, and books. I worry about running out of toilet paper, wine, and chocolate.. I serve an amazing God. I live an ordinary life filled with wonder.

  1. “Life hasn’t been the same every since.” I still make plenty of mistakes on my blog posts too. I don’t think coffee helps me enough to know I’ll catch every mistake I make. There are so many days that’s it’s impressive that I even get a blog post done because I don’t get to sit and write for hours on end and schedule posts ahead of time (even though I would LOVE and I mean LOVE to be able to do that again.)
I’ve jumped on the coffee drinking bandwagon since my husband got a new coffee machine. Now I’m utterly hooked.

    • I love it when I have posts scheduled in advance. It makes a huge difference in how much pressure I feel. Sadly, it happens all too rarely. Right now, I’m just thrilled when I manage to squeeze in a post before heading off to P.T.

Obviously, I’m not beating myself up too much about this typo. I did turn it into a graphic and slap it on Pinterest. 🙂 It happens. Even the “big” bloggers do it from time to time.

  2. I love all of these sayings and will pin the now perfect versions! Will you be adding a pinnable image of your tweet “On a fabulous day I skip the coffee in favor of champagne.”?
