It’s Five Minute Friday, hosted by Lisa-Jo Baker at The Gypsy Mama. Five minutes of free writing flash mob goodness.
If you aren’t familiar, the rules are simple. Lisa-Jo Baker gives a single word writing prompt every Friday. Each of us have five minutes to write and post. No editing, no second guessing, no fancy stuff. Just plain writing – straight from the heart. (click HERE for the official rules and details). Then we go visit other participants and shower them with comment love.
Last week, the word was SMALL. I loved writing about small things and how managing the small things well leads to big victories.
This week, the word is LAST.
Five Minute Friday
Last – a blast from the past.
As in I’m humming the song from junior high dances and bad sweaty seventies dance movies. “Last dance. It’s the last dance…. Last chance… it’s the last chance…”
As in “last week, the word was small…”
Last – a backward glance.
As in last night, last week, last year. I can look backwards into the past.
Last Sunday, I wrote about bringing changes to my blog. I abandoned the schedule that underpinned my blog for the past year in favor of more coherent ideas.
I gave up Thoughtful Thoughts on Sundays (I’ll express them as they hit me instead.)
I gave up My Kids Make Me Laugh on Tuesdays (they make me laugh, but not on cue.)
I am NOT giving up on Five Minute Fridays. Some things are just too precious to leave behind.
Last – final.
As in “I vow that this will be the very last time ever that I eat raw chocolate chip cookie dough for breakfast” (at least until I make another batch.)
Even though I’m revamping, swapping themes, changing logos and colors and all that fun stuff that bloggers do… some things are too precious to let go of.
This is NOT my last Five Minute Friday.
Last – endurance.
As in I can keep going as long as the coffee lasts.
As long as my enjoyment of Five Minute Fridays lasts, I will participate. I’ve grown so much as a writer. I’ve gained confidence. I’ve learned to trust my heart and not my head. I’ve learned that good writing doesn’t HAVE to take that long.
Last.
STOP.
Thanks for sharing.

Write, sister, write! I love this community–how we all recognize the importance of words, regardless if it takes us five minutes or five years to say them. 🙂 Stopping by from FMF!

aw… thank you!
Loved your creativity with this FMF prompt! I am excited to see what’s in store for your blog. You’re just so stinking clever…how far from Georgia to you? What’s in the middle?

I’m in Houston Texas. Halfway is probably my sister’s house.
Just pondering. Maybe a Skype or FaceTime sometime… : )
Dear Susan
I hear your heart about blogging becoming a bit overwhelming at time. First remember to write for yourself and give yourself a bloggie vacation once in a while.
