Thankful Thoughts – Spring

thankful thoughtsIt’s the start of spring break for us, so I thought I’d share some thankful thoughts about spring.

Honestly, I can’t say I’m thankful for spring BREAK, but I can at least be thankful for the spring part.

And I’m not too happy about the time change either. I have a personal grudge against whoever thought it was a good idea to deprive me of an hour of sleep.

But still, I’m thankful for spring.

Embracing Pink

embracing pinkI’m still embracing pink today.

In case you were wondering if I’ve run out of ideas for posts about pink, I haven’t. I have several others filed away.

I thought about writing an affiliate link laden post about my favorite pink songs and movies. There were plenty to choose from.

my beloved pink boxI thought about writing about my beloved pink box that arrived when I got my Consultant Enrollment Kit from ThirtyOne Gifts.

I thought about a photo tour of my favorite pink things. I’m in the process of “pink bombing” both the bedroom and kitchen. (I may have just made that term up.)

But instead I’ve got a story for you. It’s about what happened this week as I embraced pink. [Read more…]

In the Pink

in the pinkAfter a week of having a sick kid (and a weekend of not feeling so well myself), I’m happy to say we’re finally all in the pink.

You might even say I’m tickled pink about it.

Just in time for spring break, we’re all healthy.

(I promise we’ll use sunblock during spring break. I don’t want anyone to get sunburned or end up with a pink nose or anything.)

Because I’m me, I had to take a trip through Google-land to look up the origins of the phrase “in the pink.”

Because I know you care, I decided to share it with you. [Read more…]

Ordinary Wonders – Pink Sunsets

Ordinary WondersLast week’s Five Minute Friday post on Ordinary Wonders had a lingering impact for me.

I just couldn’t get it out of my head. I kept thinking about it all weekend.

In truth, I wanted MORE. I wanted more of those moments in my life. I’m greedy that way.

I know of no way to force myself (or anyone else) to see life through that special lens – the one that lets you see the miraculous in the ordinary. There are no guarantees.

All I can do is try.

Today’s story of ordinary wonder is inspired by the pink and orange and red and purple that paints the sky at sunset.

My Kids Make Me Laugh – Pink Pony Sparkles

My kids make me laugh, and in the case of the pink pony sparkle story it was even on cue.

I wanted to dedicate an entire week to pink, but I was rather stumped on a story about my kids making me laugh that involved “pink” in any way shape or form.

I was musing the subject as I was making dinner for my youngest son (the other one was still sick and not interested in food.)

And then, the magic happened. [Read more…]

Mothering Mischief – Pink TV

If you haven’t figured out by now, I practice Mothering Mischief on a regular basis.

As I shared last week in a guest post on Mothering From Scratch, tapping into that mischievous and creative side of mothering just works for me.

Last week, one of my boys had earned himself a television free day or two.

(not completely tv free, he could still watch pink tv)

The crime had involved his growing obsession with a certain television show and my unwillingness to drop everything and instantly help him get his “fix.”

So the ban was appropriate. It fit the crime. [Read more…]

Thankful Thoughts – Pink

thankful for pinkToday’s Thankful Thoughts are brought to you by the color pink.

(that should have been heard in the announcer voice from Sesame Street… the voice that says “today’s program has been brought to you by the letter C and the number 5.)

That’s kind of weird for me to say, because I’ve never thought of myself as a pink kind of person.

Growing up, when most other girls were obsessed with pink, I went for the more rebellious purple passion.  I even sported purple mascara in high school. [Read more…]

I’d like to introduce Amy (Acrylic Mystery Yarn).

introducing amy

I’d like to introduce you to Amy.

Amy = Acrylic Mystery Yarn

Many years ago, my grandmother discovered plastic canvas needlepoint.

Well, perhaps discovered is too strong of a word.

When I was a child, my grandmother was a devoted seamstress.  She created amazing outfits for her grandchildren.  She quilted.  She did needlework.  She even made my prom dress.

As I grew older, so did she.   [Read more…]
