Thankful Thoughts from my family

Thankful ThoughtsI wanted to try something different for Thankful Thoughts today.  I decided to interview my family and get their perspective on thankfulness.

(This was planned in advance and was not a last minute effort to fill blog space. Honest.)

I told GoGo I wanted to interview him for my blog.  He was game, so I started with an easy question.

Name three things you are thankful for.

Because I like to write about thankfulness each week.

don’t type why!

don’t type that either.

quit typing what I say

So, what are you thankful for?

(i took my hands off the keyboard.  gogo leaned in and whispered)

God sending Jesus.

What else?

Mommy and Daddy.

And one more?

Grandma and Granddaddy.

Is there anything else you want to tell my readers?

Then my son ran out of the room before I could ask any more questions.

(Not exactly quality blogging material.  Sorry.  I can’t make my kids say profound and blog-worthy things on cue.)

I tried again.

I waited until Watty was available (meaning he wasn’t glued to a book or out catching lizards).  Then I asked him a simple question on thankfulness.

Nothing hard, I hadn’t told him there was a pop quiz today.

I want to ask you about thankfulness.

OK.  Go for it.

What are you thankful for?

For what?

Remember, I write about thankfulness each week for my blog.  I wanted to get your thoughts on it.

I’m thankful for you.  and… daddy.

What does thankfulness mean to you?

Thankfulness means um… I got nothing.  Write something random down.

interviewing my kids. yikes.(while i give the kid points for honesty, i’m not going to make up something random and pretend he said it.  you get the unedited version of the interview.)

Why is it important to be thankful?

Because you’re a great mom and daddy is a great dad.

(wait.  i take the thing about honesty back.  that was one manipulative answer.  even if my son completely failed to answer the actual question, i decided to let it pass.)

Then I decided to ask my husband.

Then I realized he was really busy fixing things around the house.

I decided to leave him alone and not bug him with my silly blog questions.

I think he should be thankful for that.

Thankful Thoughts?

I’m super thankful for a family that loves me and is supportive of my blog.

What are you thankful for today?
