It’s Five Minute Friday, hosted by The Gypsy Mama. Five minutes of free writing flash mob goodness.
Squeee!!!
If you aren’t familiar, the rules are simple. Lisa-Jo Baker gives a single word writing prompt every Friday. Each of us have five minutes to write and post. No editing, no second guessing, no fancy stuff. Just plain writing – straight from the heart. (click HERE for the official rules and details). Then we go visit other participants and shower them with comment love.
Last week, the word was CHERISHED.
This week, the word is AGAIN.
Five Minute Friday
The laundry is soured. Again.
The dishes need “doing.” Again.
The cat is hungry, I need to plan dinner, and I my car is almost out of gas. Again.
There are times I wonder why I even bother to write a to-do list for the week. It’s the same stuff I wrote down (and did) last week. And the week before. And the week before that.
Again.
Sometimes the demands of motherhood exhaust me by their very same-ness. The unending unfinished never ceasing business threatens to fill my every waking moment.
And yet…
I chose this life.
I chose motherhood. I chose to stay home.
I had other choices.
Being here, doing this, living this life continues to be my choice.
Once again, I willingly submit. I surrender. Once again, I’m reminded that I would not be happier or more fulfilled if I could suddenly walk away.
Once again, I remember. I remember when my to-do list was very different. I remember when “home” was the neat-as-a-pin apartment of a single woman. I remember when things stayed where I put them because there was never anyone else around to move them. I remember when my life was filled with too much time and too little else.
And again, I am humbled. I am thankful.
STOP.

love the post, yes so true…it may have been quieter and simpler back then, but without our kids we would not know the joys of life.
