Monday Musings

Sigh… It’s Monday.

Part of me is celebrating that I survived.  Part of me is sad that it’s over.  Part of me is still trying to figure out what time it is.

And after a month long joy-fest, I feel like I’m starting all over on the blogging thing.

And I’m pretty much starting over on my social media addiction after several weeks of neglect.

About the blog

It’s not a bad thing, because I kind of get to start all over on what I write each day.  There was a pattern to what I posted in August and September, but I doubt you’d remember what it was (or why).  And it’s not like I have to stick to that.

There were some extended themes too.  But those threads of thought are long gone.

So after I finished 31 days of Joy in Motherhood, I limped my blog to the weekend.  I took Saturday off (the first day I failed to post since starting my blog).  I posted yesterday about Thanksgiving and Thankfulness.

And that brings me to here.

I know what fills half my blogging calendar.  Tuesdays I share a My Kids Make Me Laugh story.  Fridays take just Five Minutes.  And Sundays are for Thankfulness.  Easy.  I share a recipe on Thursdays – about half the time.

I know what I write.  It’s equal parts funny stories, silly lists, and introspective musings – with a smattering of random reviews and rants thrown in for good measure.

I guess it’s time to brush off my Content Brew skills and get busy.

It’s Monday, I survived.

As a stay at home kind of mom, I normally think of Monday as my weekend.  It’s a day to recover from a weekend of family fun and extra cooking.

But with my husband out at the deer lease this weekend, I got a ton of stuff done on Friday and Saturday nights.

(why is that?  why is it i can get more housework done on a “single” night than i can get done in a whole week during the school day?)

So it’s Monday morning.  The laundry is done, the fridge is clean, the trash is out.  I’m ahead for the week.

This rocks.

It’s almost enough ahead to make up for being a single parent through two soccer games and the Sunday morning get ready for church thing.

The time changed.

This is the first year both my kids have been aware enough of time to notice the whole time change thing.

Try explaining daylight savings time to my kids.

Try explaining it to them at 5am (old time) on a Sunday morning.  Before coffee.

(recall that i’m not a morning person to begin with)

On the plus side?  We were early to church.

The best news is that my little kidletts are so confused about the whole time change thing that I can put them to bed early without them even noticing.

So how was your weekend?

  1. I get more done when I am unexpectedly alone (at any time of day) than I do on regular days, too. I don’t know why.

Also, my dogs don’t understand Daylight Savings Time, so I am always more tired this week than any other.

    • Hmmm… maybe it’s because when I’m home at night I can’t possibly run errands. Or maybe because night time television on the weekends stinks.

  2. I think getting more done has to do with not being interrupted or maybe not having extra people around messing things up as you go. We had a cold, three soccer game Saturday with three wins(woohoo) around here but the rest of our weekend was relatively quiet even if that dream of an extra hour of sleep didn’t exactly come to pass.

  3. I love so many things about the Happy Mom land, but best of all I love the kids making us laugh. When I see that on my Google Reader my mouse can’t click fast enough. Happy Monday!
