Thankful Thoughts – Friendship

thankful thoughts 31daysToday I’m sharing some thankful thoughts about friendship.

Yes, it’s a friendship theme this weekend.

But as I was writing about Joy in Friendship, I realized just how blessed I am.

I remember being friendless.

When I became I stay at home mom seven years ago, I didn’t have any friends.

I had tons of work friends – almost all of them male.  But when I left work, I left them behind.  We had nothing in common beyond work.

So on top of all the other stuff moms deal with, I was totally isolated.  It was just me with two babies.  All day.  Every day.

And my husband hauled off and traveled to China for several weeks.

I can remember how scared and alone I felt when there was NO ONE to call.

I worried what would happen if I got sick, or had car trouble, or just went screaming down the street because I’d lost my mind.

Now I have friends.

Not long after I joined Facebook, I was shocked to see that I had over 100 friends.

They weren’t old classmates.  Most of them weren’t even family.  They were people I knew in real life!

In just three short years, I’d found women to laugh with, women to cry with, women to pray with and do life with.

I feel so blessed!

I know people who will bring me soup when I get sick.

I know people who would pick my kids up from school on short notice… and keep them overnight if needed.

I know people who would come rescue me if I had car trouble.

And if I ever felt like I was losing it and about to run down the street screaming… yep, I have friends who would talk me down.

Oh. My. Word.

I am so blessed.

I am so thankful for friendship.

I can’t believe y’all really like me.

I have a strange fascination for bad puns, the color pink, socks, and books. I worry about running out of toilet paper, wine, and chocolate.. I serve an amazing God.
