Thankful Thoughts – Making a List

thankful thoughts 31daysIt’s Sunday, time for thankful thoughts, worship, and family.

Only… it’s Friday afternoon.  I’m in a mad scramble to pack for a family camping trip this weekend.  I still have laundry, dishes, trash, grocery shopping, packing, picking the kids up from school…. and oh yeah.. that 31 day thing where I promised to post every day.

So I sit down and try to compose myself to write some amazing, mind blowing stuff about how thankful I am.  There’s all this pressure to prove to you how thankfulness leads to joy.

And quite frankly… as I start to write this post…

I am NOT a happy mom.

Deep breath.

I am not feeling particularly thankful.  I’m not even in the mood to try and feel thankful.  I just want to get my to do list done and get out to the campsite and get everything settled so I can try to unplug and relax for maybe two whole hours before I need to turn around and come back home.  And oh yeah, when we get back home I have a ton of dirt to unpack out of the car… and… and…

Like I said, I am NOT

Except.  It’s Friday as I write this.

You can see it on the page.

That magical moment where there is suddenly space and I have found

the ability to find appropriate expression for one’s thoughts”

Thankfulness –> Space –> Felicity –> Joy

I started out with no thankful thoughts

Now, my heart is filled with them.

One simple act transformed me.

It only took five minutes.

Now it’s your turn.

What are you thankful for?

    • You must take care of the girls! 🙂

I’m glad to be back from camping. It will take most of today to get caught up on the MESS it generated. Ugh. Everything comes back caked in mud and smelling of smoke. But we had a blast!

  2. Awesome list Susan! Just reading it made me thankful too!

    • Black goes with everything. I love how flexible my wardrobe is because of the black. And I personally think I look smoking hot in it too.

Greek yogurt (or yoghurt) mixed with chocolate syrup is a family favorite. I think it tastes like chocolate cheesecake – particularly with some cinnamon graham crackers or cinnamon granola mixed in. Perfect guilt-free breakfast or snack.
