My Kids Make Me Laugh – Encyclopedia Style

my kids make me laugh from

My kids make me laugh every single day.  I treasure that.

Taking the time to enjoy my kids and laugh WITH them each day is one of my secrets to being This Happy Mom.

Sometimes, it’s visual.  Like the day they dressed up in costumes. (That’s the very first my kids make me laugh post.)

This time, it was an extended conversation with a series of sound bites – each one funnier than the last.

It started simply enough.

Watty:  Mommy, what does a fileo fish look like?

Me:  I don’t know sweetheart, I’ve never heard of that kind of fish.

(what is this all about?  how has he heard of a fish i’ve never heard of.  why do i let that boy read the encyclopedia?)

Watty:  You know.  It’s what they serve at McDonalds.  The Filet-O-Fish.

Me:  That’s a funny one Watty.

Honestly, I don’t know if he was trying to make a joke or if it was one of those weird things kids hear differently than adults.  I do know that it was funny.

Then GoGo stepped up to bat.

GoGo:  Mommy, did you install that game on YOUR iPhone that I asked you to?

Me:  Why yes, yes I did.

(where is this going? why is he pestering me?  he has the game on HIS ipod touch.)

GoGo:  Bwahahahaha!  I’m at a higher level on the game than you are!

Me: Nice.

That lasted about two days.  I was determined to wipe the smirk off of his face.  I sooooo beat him on that game.

Is that wrong?

And Watty went in for the kill.

Watty:  Whales float when they sleep, right?

Me:  I’ll take your word for it.  I have never looked it up.

(again with the science stuff.  no more discovery channel for this boy!)

Watty:  And sharks can’t sleep or they would drown.

Me:  Yes, that’s what I’ve been told.

(at least i know that part is right.  i remember that from my own childhood.)

Watty:  So what does an octopus do?

Me:  I have no freaking clue.  I have never thought about it.

When we got home, we looked it up.  General internet wisdom is that they are heavy sleepers and prefer to sleep in caves.

How could I help but laugh?

My kids make me laugh.

It’s my one of my favorite parts of being a mom.

How have your kids made you laugh today?  If they haven’t, stop everything… go play with them until you giggle!

    • It’s almost as bad as GoGo’s joke

Q: why did the donut go to the dentist?
A: to get a chocolate filling!!!!

(repeat about 20 times in a row for maximum impact)

  2. they are just too cute, really love how they come up with awesome facts and try to tease you in aboy way.

    • Boys are silly, but that’s what makes them all the more precious. I can’t call my handsome any longer. Rarely will they tolerate actual hugs. So I call them studly (they have no idea what that means) and tickle them. I also take their temperature often. (The mom kind where you put your cheek on their forehead.)

  3. Bahahaha! Love the filet-o-fish one! That is a keeper. 🙂

    • Oh yay! I’m so glad you found me. I peeked at your blog and it looks like I’ll be spending some time reading posts and driving up your page counts tonight.

Angry Birds and I have a love/hate relationship. I loved it until the boys got better at it than me. Now I find it annoying. But I love it when it keeps my kids occupied in a boring location.

  6. My two favorites when my nuggets were little we’re:
“Mom, when I grow up I wanna be one of those guys who stands up on stage and makes people laugh… know…a Canadian.”
“Mom, Yai Yai said her kidneys hurt. How can she have kidneys when she’s so old?”
(think about. say it out loud.)
    kid knees….bahawawaha!
