I can’t wait for church today! I need inspiration.

looking forward to church, for all the right reasonsI love my church family, and I can’t wait for church on Sunday mornings. I love seeing my friends. I love the encouragement I get. I love the safe feeling of knowing I am accepted for who I am. My church family places a high value on authenticity and transparency, and it really shows in how we treat each other.  We’re family.

I love the music, the group worship and the uplifting experience.

I love my small group.  I made them muffins today.

I love the wisdom and insight I get from the preaching each week.

But this week, my motivation is a little more selfish. I’m almost embarrassed to admit this. But… I want to go to church so I can get inspired for my blog.

Wait… it’s not what you think. Or, maybe it is.

Since I started blogging, every Sunday during our church service, I have about a dozen ideas hit me during one of the worship songs. The first week, I tried to ignore it. But that was just too distracting. So, now I quietly jot the ideas down and go right back to worshipping.

When I started writing blog posts based on my Sunday inspiration, I felt like I found my focus as a blogger. Stuff just flowed together better. I also was blessed to have more post ideas than I could possibly fit into a blogging week.  When I started my blog, I wasn’t sure how much of my faith I was willing to share through my blogs.  (It was that whole “I don’t want to scare people away thing.”)  Once I started listening on Sundays, I found it incredibly easy to include my faith in my writing.

Last week, I missed church because I was feeling a bit under the weather. Not only did I struggle with having enough content for my blog this week, but it showed. I don’t obsess over my blogging statistics, but I do notice them. I wrote some really unpopular stuff this week. I’m not upset or hurt, and I don’t want people to go read posts just to make me feel better. Personally, I’m amused that more people would want to read about my dirty socks than lentil salad (a post NO ONE has looked at).

So this week, I am determined to go church. I would want to anyway, because I’ve missed all my friends. But I am super motivated to see if I get my blogging mojo back.

I’m excited to go to church because I want to hear what God has to say.  Isn’t that what it’s all about in the first place?

I have a strange fascination for bad puns, the color pink, socks, and books. I worry about running out of toilet paper, wine, and chocolate.. I serve an amazing God. I live an ordinary life filled with wonder.
