I have a lot of things on my mind today, so I’m copping out. I’m posting a roundup of random stuff to finish the week off. It’s a snapshot of all the little treasures this week brought me, all wrapped up in one pretty package for you.
First, my week didn’t go as planned. Remember the menu I posted on Monday, the one where I mused about the usefulness of menu planning in general, and the need for flexibility in my life. Hah! On Monday morning, I thought it was a stay-at-home week, with a quiet little family celebration for the 4th. On Monday evening, we decided to make a day-trip to my in-laws for the 4th. No problem, load up the food I bought and we’ll cater the event. On Tuesday morning, my husband found out he had a funeral to attend on Thursday… in the town where my in-laws live. Chaos, hotels, and fast food happened.
My kids adopted a lizard. They named him GEICO.
GoGo announced that he wants to collect every reptile in the world. Just the bones.
I was informed that this is NOT unusual behavior for boys.
My children found a dead bird and gave it a “funeral” by putting dead flowers on top of it.
If this upsets you are grosses you out, sorry. It’s pretty standard boy-mom stuff.
All my new photo editing and graphics creation pushed my Mac over the edge. I ended up adding more memory to solve the problem.
But before that, I was having to “force-quit” a bunch.
I took my kids to McDonalds because I just needed them to burn some energy.
We need up eating out more than I’d planned, including a yummy pulled pork bbq sandwich with cole-slaw on top.
I’m in Texas, where beef brisket bbq is king.
I started the Joy Dare, and promptly re-discovered rosemary. I’ve seen it blooming in blue before, but never pink blossoms. I love rosemary. I seek it out in gardens. I love the way it’s scent lingers on my fingers all day. I love the way it clings to life amongst the rocks, stubbornly thriving in conditions that defy explanation.
I was so entranced with the rosemary that I almost didn’t notice the boys were busy with their “bird funeral” in the same parking lot. Thankfully, they didn’t touch it.
So how did your week go? Anything fun to share? What’s on your mind?
