Remember Little Golden Books?

I have fond memories of Little Golden Books as a child. I loved the way the gold spines all lined up so perfectly. I loved bringing my mom a whole stack and letting her read them all to me. (My favorite was Nurse Nancy.) My kids have a lot of Golden Books, but I’ve gone a bit more high tech with them.

When I spent 30 minutes a day in carpool line with GoGo, our favorite way to spend the time was to read digital books together. These were two of GoGo’s favorites when he was 4-5 year old. I can’t recommend them enough.

If you allow your children to play on your phone unsupervised, please make sure you investigate the restrictive settings on your phone (to prevent unwanted purchases or app deletion).

For a more low tech solution, Golden Books are still available in “analog” format (paper). Here are the Amazon links if you need them:
The Little Red Hen (Little Golden Book)

The Poky Little Puppy (A Little Golden Book Classic)

There are also Kindle versions and a recorded version via (search term “Little Golden Treasury” via Amazon). We have the Audible version and it is well narrated.

Disclosure: I participate in the Apple Affiliate Program and the Amazon Affiliate Program.

Edited to add:  Thanks to HodgePodgeMom for inspiring today’s post.  Go check her site for some great book reviews and homeschooling ideas.  (and i’m really really sorry i left this out to begin with.  it was a total accident.)

What app would you recommend?

I have a passion for encouraging weary worn out mothers to find joy in everyday motherhood and peace in unlikely places. I have two elementary school boys, one nerdy husband, and two cats. I have a strange fascination for bad puns, the color pink, socks, and books. I worry about running out of toilet paper, wine, and chocolate.. I serve an amazing God. I live an ordinary life filled with wonder.
