Coming Soon: Food!

A few years ago, I posted faithfully to my food blog.

I enjoyed it. It was a ton of work, but I found it very rewarding. I stopped for a couple of reasons.

  • My kitchen setup was not blog friendly. The light was bad and an all-white kitchen is a nightmare.  Every speck of dirt would show up in the background of photographs.
  • My kids were at the peak of their picky-eating behavior.  I needed time to focus on their needs.  That involved cooking a lot of simple boring food that the entire family ate together.  Not blog-friendly dishes.
  • My kids started taking photos of their every meal and garnishing their plates for color.  That was disturbing behavior to see in a three year old!
  • The grind of cooking and photographing new dishes every day was wearing me out.  I didn’t understand enough about blogging to avoid this trap.
  • I was putting in enough hours each day on the blog to equal a part-time job.

I’ve missed it.  I love cooking.  I love photography.  I love the whole creative process.  I love seeing my photos come together in a blog.  Once my kitchen has recovered from our remodel, I’ll be able to return to food blogging, at least on an occasional basis (once a week, or more when the inspiration hits me).

Until the kitchen has recovered, I’ll be re-posting some of the content from my old blog.  When possible, I’ll be cooking the meal that I post.  I hope you enjoy this addition to ThisHappyMom!

I have a passion for encouraging weary worn out mothers to find joy in everyday motherhood and peace in unlikely places. I have two elementary school boys, one nerdy husband, and two cats. I have a strange fascination for bad puns, the color pink, socks, and books. I worry about running out of toilet paper, wine, and chocolate.. I serve an amazing God. I live an ordinary life filled with wonder.
